The Zoomlion QTZ80 (TC6012A-6A) is a tower crane with an advertised maximum lifting capacity of six tonnes and a jib configurable from 30 to 60 metres. Its suitability for a construction project depends on the required lifting height, working radius, load weight and installed configuration.
A listing for four used 2021 units in Athi River, Kenya, provides a useful reference for examining this model’s specifications. Contractors assessing similar equipment should review the load chart, maintenance history and structural condition alongside the purchase price.

Does a 6-Ton Tower Crane Lift Six Tonnes at 60 Metres?
Maximum lifting capacity does not mean the crane can lift six tonnes throughout its entire working radius.
The permitted load depends on the distance between the load and the tower, along with the jib configuration and rope reeving arrangement. Buyers should therefore assess the crane using its correct load chart.
Before choosing a unit, identify your heaviest planned load and the radius at which it must be lifted. Ask a qualified crane specialist to confirm whether the proposed configuration suits that task.

Inspecting a Used Tower Crane in Athi River
The cranes are advertised as “sold as seen, where-is.” The seller welcomes buyers to bring their own technician to inspect and test the units on site.
Arrange an inspection covering the mast sections, jib, structural connections, hoisting equipment, wire ropes, brakes, electrical controls and safety devices. Request maintenance records and check the identification details of each crane.
Confirm that the components required for your intended configuration are included.
What Does the Tower Crane Load Chart Show?
A tower crane load chart shows the permitted lifting capacity at different working radii and jib lengths, with separate information for the rope reeving arrangements shown.

The pictured chart illustrates why a six-tonne maximum capacity does not mean six tonnes can be lifted at the end of a 60-metre jib. For the 60-metre jib rows, the chart shows approximately 1.20 tonnes at a 60-metre radius in the upper arrangement and 1.14 tonnes in the lower arrangement. These are readings from the supplied photograph; a qualified crane specialist should verify them against the original chart and the crane’s actual configuration before planning a lift.
The plate also states that slings and lifting attachments form part of the load. Their weight must therefore be included when checking the total suspended load against the permitted capacity.
