For a boda boda rider, a motorcycle is an earning tool. It needs to carry a load, handle rough roads and stay available for the next trip. That is the market eWAKA is targeting with the Jembe electric motorcycle.

The Jembe stands apart from the company’s Buga electric bicycle and Shujaa cargo bicycle. eWAKA describes it as a motorcycle built for riders working across varied Kenyan roads, with features aimed at carrying loads and reducing downtime.

How much does the eWAKA Jembe cost in Kenya?

eWAKA’s online shop lists the Jembe Electric Bike at KSh 323,310. Treat this as the displayed product price, rather than a confirmed delivered or fully financed cost. Before paying, ask for a written quotation showing the motorcycle, batteries, charger or swapping arrangement, warranty, registration requirements and delivery charges.

eWAKA has also promoted an Anza deposit option, saying riders can put down a deposit and ride while paying the balance. Its post does not give the deposit, repayment period or total payable amount. Ask for all three figures in writing so you can compare the financing cost with a cash purchase.

What are the Jembe’s advertised features?

Feature What eWAKA advertises
Load capacity Up to 250 kg
Range Up to 160 km using two batteries
Motor Mid-drive motor
Braking Dual shocks and disc brakes
Construction Protective steel bars, reinforced rims and rugged tyres
Battery use Charging or swapping, depending on route and schedule
Technology App-based payments, tracking and locking

The distance you achieve in daily use may vary with load, terrain, riding style and battery condition. If you work long shifts, ask eWAKA where you can charge or swap batteries along your regular route.

Is the Jembe suitable for boda boda and delivery work?

Its advertised load capacity and road-focused features make the Jembe worth considering for riders carrying passengers or goods. But a good purchase decision comes from testing it against your own workday.

How many kilometres do you ride before stopping? Do you regularly climb hills or travel on murram roads? Where would you charge, and how much would charging or swapping cost? A test ride with a realistic load will tell you more than a specification sheet alone.

Electric riding removes petrol purchases, but it does not remove every running cost. Include electricity or swapping fees, tyres, servicing, insurance and any finance repayments when estimating what the bike could save you.
